THE NITETIME BROADCAST WORKSHOP

The signal is assembled from old machines, current software, local
automation, and the stubborn conviction that a station should have
its own weather.
PLAYOUT
-------
Open Broadcaster Software (OBS) is the principal video playback and
streaming engine. Custom scheduling scripts arrange programs,
station identifications, music, bumpers, and interruptions into an
automated broadcast day.
Automation does not mean the station is impersonal. It means a small
operation can keep transmitting after the operator has stepped away
from the console. The schedule is machinery; the choices inside it
are still handmade.
EIGHT-BIT GRAPHICS
------------------
Original Commodore 64 and Commodore 128 hardware is used as part of
the graphics workshop. Projects include screensavers, digital sign
loops, telemetry displays, visualizers, and demoscene-style motion.
Some programs are written in BASIC. Lower-level graphics work uses
6502-family assembly language and the ACME cross-assembler under
Ubuntu Linux. The result travels in both directions: modern tools
help build code for old hardware, and the old hardware gives the
modern broadcast a visual grammar it could not get from a filter.
THE WEBMASTER'S DESK
--------------------
The Web presence is maintained directly by Dan Conderman. Its
working concerns include retro Web architecture, custom audio
players, broadcast access, and accessibility. This Gopher node is
part of the same practice: small files, clear doors, durable paths,
and enough quiet for a visitor to wander.

Not every production follows this exact route. The important part is
that the workshop remains porous. Code, radio language, music,
painting, film, and fiction are allowed to leak into one another.
