one another. The three tones mark the start. The fourth tone is the
dangerous one.

At the fourth tone, the network would synchronize its memories. Seven
nodes would be enough to make the separate stations behave like one
system with one identity.

Node 19 disconnected itself between tones three and four. The gap was
not a failure in the sequence. It was the safety mechanism.
