Parents met in church and became friends. Then they decided to start a greenhouse and landscape business in LaValle. Funny enough called Towne and Country, not realizing there was a family name of Towne in the area. Because of a teacher strike the year before we both had 3 weeks of summer that year, and what did we do? PACKED AND MOVED! Go into our new school, and boy oh boy, the class didn't like us. We were the "big city kids" and outcasts. Spent a ton of time together though now with the countryside to explore. Building dams in creeks, catching fish and thinking it was a good idea to keep our whoopers in the cow water tank, driving a 3-wheeler around the pasture looking for mud to spray, finding honest to god 'quicksand' and testing it out. Before we got our drivers licences and got into real trouble, him and I got ourselves in and out of trouble a lot. He was the first to get a nintendo and a CD player, so I would spend days on end at his house. Then he would get sick of it and then come and spend days at my house. Pretty much if you saw one of us the other was within 20 feet. Then we got cars... One story I will share. Coming back from Wisconsin Dells one night, I nod off in the passenger seat and Brian pokes me and says "Hey, we got cops". I wake up and say "what?". Look behind and sure enough the berries are going. I know he already had a ticket or two and I said "Welp, what now?" he replies "We are gone." He floors it and we are doing 140mph down Old Reedsburg Road. Cop lights fade into the distance. We came up with the perfect plan. We duck into the cul-du-sac across from the then middle school, turn the lights off, park the car and watch the cop fly past on the main road. Creep out, take the long way around Reedsburg and get home safely. Brian, I will always remember you. You are the other half of my childhood.
