This isn't deregulation. It’s abdication.
This reckless legislative package sounds like it was drafted in a high school debate club sponsored by Koch Industries. The premise? That agencies — staffed with scientists, legal experts, and public health professionals — should need to "justify their existence" every seven years, while lawmakers hand the pen to corporate lobbyists behind closed doors.
What a joke.
This is the political version of handing the keys to the liquor store over to the town drunk and hoping he’ll regulate himself. Only here, the "town drunk" is a mining company, a payday loan outfit, or a chemical manufacturer with no incentive beyond profit.
Republicans aren’t just gutting oversight — they’re rewriting the rulebook so that every time a new safety or environmental protection is proposed, something else has to be sacrificed.
