Let's rewind.
Once upon a time, smokers filled every corner of our world with a fog of
burning tobacco. Planes. Restaurants. Hospitals, for crying out loud. The
health risks? Undeniable. The secondhand smoke? Inescapable. So what did the
world do?
You raised hell.
And rightly so.
You pushed. You educated. You rallied for public health. You banned smoking
indoors. You added warning labels. You taxed it to the sky. And what happened?
Smokers looked for an alternative.
And science gave us one.
Enter vaping--the holy grail of harm reduction. No smoke. No tar. No secondhand
poison. Just a cleaner, safer delivery method for people addicted to nicotine.
A win-win. It should've been the final chapter.
But instead of celebrating the victory, you moved the goalposts.
Suddenly vaping became Public Enemy #1. It didn't matter that it was objectively
safer. It didn't matter that it was helping people quit cigarettes by the
millions. You weren't interested in progress. You were addicted to the fight.
You didn't want to win.
You wanted something to bitch about.
You didn't say, "Wow, look at that, technology actually solved the problem."
You said, "Ugh, it looks like a USB stick."
You said, "Think of the children!"
You said, "We need more regulation!"
You said, "Ban it!"
Ban it?! Are you fucking serious?
You already got rid of cigarettes from public spaces. You got a cleaner, safer
alternative on the market. And now you want that gone too? What exactly do you
want? A nicotine-free utopia where everyone wears beige and drinks kale
smoothies?
Let me say it clearly:
The goal was never health.
It was never safety.
It was control.
It was moral superiority dressed up as concern.
You don't want a better world--you want a sanitized one.
You want something to shake your finger at.
You want something to hate that makes you feel better than someone else.
You moved on from smoking to vaping like a dog moving from one chew toy to the
next. Why? Because the real addiction isn't nicotine--it's outrage. It's
righteous indignation. It's the dopamine hit you get from telling someone else
they're wrong.
And let's not ignore the cowardice in this hypocrisy. Alcohol? Still everywhere.
Big Pharma? Still pumping out opioids. Processed sugar? Killing more people than
tobacco ever did. But you don't go after those giants with the same rabid
energy, do you?
No, instead you pick on vapers--working class people trying to quit smoking.
The guy at the bus stop. The woman on her lunch break. The veteran with PTSD who
doesn't want to go back to Camels. These are your enemies now?
Give me a break.
This entire crusade has become a self-righteous hobby for people who don't know
how to sit still unless they're mad at something. You're not saving kids. You're
not protecting health. You're just dressing up control as morality and calling
it virtue.
To everyone who actually gave a damn about public health--thank you. We heard
you.
But to the rest of you still swinging your torches at clouds of vapor?
Take a fucking seat.
We solved the problem. The war should be over.
You're still swinging because you were never trying to win.
You were just trying to scream.
