I spent my Thanksgiving with a young family I’ve known since the moment they met. I literally got to tell the story of their introduction because I was the one who brought them together. Back then it was just two kids who couldn’t keep their hands off each other. Now it’s a house full of children, noise, chaos, toys everywhere, stories of destruction, tired eyes, and the kind of laughter that comes from surviving it all.
And I smiled. Not in that weird way where someone else’s struggle makes you grin. This was different. This was the smile you get when something in life actually goes the way it should. The plan worked. The universe lined up exactly right. Two people found each other, built a family, and now they’re living the beautiful mess that comes with it.
We weren’t sitting in the quiet house of someone who lost their shot at happiness. We were in the home of a mom and dad doing the real work, raising the classic two point five kids, surviving the busted stove, the spills, the screams, and all the tiny disasters that make a family real.
Everything unfolded the way it was supposed to. God’s plan was humming along. And for a moment, right there at that kitchen table, with the kids running wild and the parents trading war stories, I felt grateful for the chaos. Grateful that I got to witness it from the beginning. Grateful that I got to see love turn into a life.
Happy Thanksgiving. May your chaos be blessed.
