The Olympics using AI video is pure, shameless hypocrisy.

For decades the IOC has acted like the high priest of copyright, suing teachers, archivists, small creators, historians, and fans for daring to reuse even a few seconds of footage. They have locked away human history behind paywalls, takedowns, and legal threats, all while screaming about “protecting the integrity of the Games.”

And now they turn around and use AI generated, synthetic, remix-based video production that only exists because it was trained on massive amounts of scraped human work. Work they did not license. Work they did not credit. Work they absolutely would have sued over if anyone else did it.

So let’s be clear. If AI training is theft, then their AI content is built on theft. If remixing footage is copyright abuse, then they are abusing it. You cannot spend decades threatening the world over fair use and then suddenly pretend you are fine with machines chewing through every image, performance, and broadcast ever made.

The truth is simple. They never cared about artists. They never cared about creators. They cared about control.

Now that AI benefits them, suddenly the rules soften. Suddenly it is “innovation.” Suddenly it is fine that bots have watched, copied, analyzed, and processed every second of the Games. The same thing they would have called piracy five minutes ago.
