Last night I kept coming back to this idea of the underdog badass. Not the obvious kind, but the kind that’s hard to define. The sort of person who carries a strange, undeniable power about them. I’ve been trying to put that quality into words, to come up with a real definition, and I’m still working on it.
Out of that thought came music about three very specific people. Each of them, in their own way, is a total badass.
First, Kevin Uxbridge. The only character in the Star Trek: The Next Generation universe who made the Enterprise crew basically say, “Yeah… we’re leaving,” and warp out with no more questions asked.
Then there’s Kip Wheeler. A guy with dreams. Lives clean. Gets the girl. And has the courage to jump on a bus to D-Town just to go live his life and do whatever the hell he wants with her.
Lastly, Barnabas Collins. This dude probably had an affair with either your mother or your grandmother. Maybe both. Through the TV set. You just don’t know about it.
