Been wondering why I fall asleep around 9, wake up around 1, stare into the dark like I’m receiving instructions from an old radio tower, then drift back to sleep around 3 or 4.
Well, get this...
PEOPLE USED TO SLEEP LIKE THAT.
Before electric lights and the modern “you must sleep one perfect block or you are broken” routine, a lot of people had what historians call first sleep and second sleep. They would sleep for a few hours, wake up in the middle of the night, think, pray, talk, write, sit by the fire, reflect on dreams, then go back to bed.
So maybe 2 AM is not failure.
Maybe it is the old hour.
Maybe it is the quiet little broadcast window between sleeps.
And honestly, that sounds exactly like the kind of thing
nitetime.net
should be looking into.
