Folks, do you realize how insane this moment in history actually is?
The Pilgrims come all the way across the Atlantic in 1620. They’re cold, starving, barely alive, and convinced they have landed in some unknown wilderness at the edge of the world.
Then the first Native man they meet walks into Plymouth and speaks English.
That is not a normal history fact. That is a sci-fi scene.
To understand how wild that is, imagine NASA lands on an alien moon 400 years from now. The astronauts climb down the ladder, plant a flag, start looking around, and some glowing squid-being walks out from behind a rock and says:
“Welcome, Americans.”
You would not just say, “Oh neat, first contact.”
You would stop everything.
You would ask:
Who taught him English?
How long have they known about us?
Who was here before us?
What happened before the official story started?
That is the Samoset problem.
And tonight on
nitetime.net
, we are considering the odds.
Prior coastal trade?
English fishermen?
Squanto’s impossible Atlantic kidnapping arc?
A massive historical coincidence?
Or, obviously…
time travel.
Tonight on
The Pilgrim Paradox
They crossed the ocean into the unknown… and the unknown said hello in English.
