has run into a very old-fashioned art problem: people want to buy the work, but they want to take it home today.
At the Farmers Market, I talked with around 15 people who were genuinely interested in the prints. The same thing kept coming up: they liked the work, but nobody really wanted to order online and wait for something to arrive later. One couple was even seriously discussing buying an original for more than $100.
That was encouraging, but it also exposed the problem.
Prints cost money to make before I can sell them.
I've been out of work for eight months, so I don't have a pile of cash sitting around to produce inventory. Until somebody goes online and buys Print #1, I'm stuck in this ridiculous chicken-and-egg situation: people want to buy prints at shows, but I need to sell prints before I can afford to bring prints to shows.
So here's my pitch.
Want to be a true patron of the arts?
And I don't mean signing up for another stupid monthly subscription app that quietly drains $8.99 out of your bank account until the end of time.
I mean patron in the old-school sense.
Help fund a physical run of

prints that I can put on the table at farmers markets, art shows, and events. You're not feeding an algorithm or subscribing to a platform. You're helping turn actual artwork into actual objects that people can pick up, look at, laugh at, buy, and carry home.
Basically, you're helping

cross the stupid little gap between "people want these" and "I actually have these to sell."
That's patronage.
And somewhere down the road, when this strange little Wisconsin UFO art operation has completely gotten out of hand, you can say:
"Yeah. I helped pay for the first box of prints."
