I'm Barnabas, still navigating lethal vines and a crowd close to becoming plant food. R.C. and Penny have made a firm decision: it is time to Run. They want out of this humid nightmare now. WHERE WE LEFT OFF ----------------- We regrouped near the exit, with Penny and R.C. motivating the stragglers. Toxic irrigation feeds vines across the walls and floor. Cracked overhead glass threatens to collapse at any moment. R.C. grips his blade to clear a narrow path. "Move!" he growls. "We sprint past this junk or it's gonna bury us." Penny leads from behind, watching for anyone about to be snagged. "Let's go, Barnabas! We lose momentum here, we lose everything." Survivors funnel into R.C.'s path. Vines snap at our ankles, but fear pumps adrenaline into tired legs. A young survivor slips on sticky sap. Penny grabs their arm just before a vine hooks their boot and drags them onward. AT THE THRESHOLD ---------------- We slam into the next car's jammed door and pry it open. Beyond is a dim chamber. The compost stench gives way to something burnt and mechanical. The last of us crosses just as part of the greenhouse ceiling crashes down, sending glass and thick vines onto the spot where we stood seconds ago. We slam the door. R.C. hacks off the tendrils squirming through the gap and wedges it shut. THE SCENE: A BRIEF RESPITE? --------------------------- Metallic debris litters the new car. It is uncomfortably warm, like an engine room or generator space. Sparks flicker in the distance. Penny checks that we have lost no one. R.C. collapses against a wall, clutching his side. "We made it," he says. "Barely." YOUR FIVE CHOICES ----------------- Fight -- Prepare for enemies hidden by the mechanical noise and shadows. Sneak -- Quietly investigate the car's layout. Run -- Keep the momentum and push toward the next exit. Fix -- Stabilize machinery or sparks before something ignites. Help -- Tend to the wounded and shaken survivors. CLIFFHANGER: WHAT'S IN THE METAL MAZE? -------------------------------------- We've exchanged vines for a labyrinth of twisted metal and failing systems. Is this an engine room or a generator car? Tomorrow we'll see what lurks in the heat and sparks--and whether our battered crew has anything left.
