ABOUT THIS ARCHIVE

Origin:
A Nitetime.net conversation about making a Commodore 128 look more impressive
than a Commodore 64 evolved into a cinematic BASIC 7.0 display project. That led
to a broader observation: before digital computers, humans had already spent
centuries making elaborate automatic machines.

Preserved here:
- the C128 design idea
- the bugs found in generated vintage BASIC
- the 2001-style display philosophy
- the "watch the computer think" design principle
- the social-post concept connecting clockwork automation to modern computing
- factual historical context
- Nitetime world-building inspired by the subject

Archive rule:
Factual files say they are factual. Fictional Nitetime records say they are
fictional or in-universe. Atmosphere is allowed; silent category errors are not.

This is intended to remain interesting when rediscovered years from now, not
merely useful during the week it was created.
