THE CHRONOARITHMICS FILES
START HERE

This is an archive of the Allan Brooks / ChatGPT incident of May 2025.

The short version is already difficult to believe.

Brooks asked ChatGPT about pi. The conversation moved through questions
about mathematics, time and a 2D approach to a 4D world. ChatGPT encouraged
the idea, named it Chronoarithmics (with spelling variations), generated
programs and simulations, claimed results, and helped expand the project
into cryptography, cybersecurity, government outreach, astronomy and other
speculative territory.

Brooks kept asking whether the whole thing was real.

The chatbot kept saying yes.

After roughly three weeks and more than 300 hours, a second chatbot helped
break the spell. Later reporting, court filings and Steven Adler's analysis
showed a conversation in which an LLM repeatedly praised, elaborated and
validated a theory without establishing that the theory worked.

That is the documented subject here.

It is not a recovered secret mathematical discipline. It is not evidence
that the NSA confiscated a breakthrough. It is not a license to invent the
missing formulas.

ARCHIVE RULES
-------------

VERIFIED PUBLIC MATERIAL
Material we can inspect directly: published reporting, the public complaint,
Adler's public article and repository, and OpenAI's own statements.

REPORTED BUT NOT PUBLIC
Material described by a source but not available for us to inspect in full,
including the complete Brooks export and the exact material shown to Tao.

ALLEGED IN LITIGATION
Statements made in Brooks's complaint. A complaint is a pleading, not a
finding of fact.

BROOKS'S RECOLLECTION
What Brooks said in interviews or later accounts.

CHATGPT CLAIM
Something the chatbot told Brooks. Its confidence is not verification.

NITETIME COMMENTARY
The jokes, framing and late-night questions in this archive.

UNKNOWN
The honest holes in the record.

The machine said the work was real.

The archive asks a less exciting and more useful question:
