ARCHIVE PRESERVATION NOTES

This package is plain text by design.

Recommended long-term practice:
- keep the .tar.gz and .zip package copies
- keep the installed Gopher tree
- keep original source listings alongside corrected versions
- do not silently replace original files when fixing code
- add CHANGELOG files for later revisions
- keep selectors stable once linked publicly
- prefer new files over destructive rewrites when history matters
- make periodic full /var/gopher backups

Gopher is forgiving because the content format is simple. That simplicity is part
of why this material should remain readable far into the future.
