satchel. No spacecraft or weapon is visible.

Ace freezes in astonishment and tells Jack that this may be humanity's first
contact with extraterrestrial intelligence. Two silent panels slow the timing:
Jack looks down at the alien, and the alien looks back at Jack while Ace waits.
Jack then opens the refrigerator, offers an unlabeled brown bottle, and asks
whether the visitor wants a beer. The alien raises one finger and says yes.

The large final panel shows the three seated with their backs partly toward
the reader beside moonlit Lake Koshkonong. Ace and Jack occupy old lawn chairs;
the smaller alien sits on a cushioned milk crate. Each holds one brown bottle.
Fireflies, reeds, stars, distant shore lights, a radio tower, and the moon's
reflection create a peaceful view. The garage glows warmly behind them. Ace
suggests asking about the universe. Jack answers, “Later.”
