BEGINNER'S LUCK

PANEL 1
Visual:
Ace and Jack enter a warm knotty-pine room marked LAKESIDE CLUBHOUSE. Their
small alien buddy walks between them, studying a row of vintage slot machines.
Lake Koshkonong is visible through an open doorway.
Dialogue:
ACE: First contact, night two.
JACK: Clubhouse orientation.

PANEL 2
Visual:
The alien stands before one old three-reel slot machine. Concentric energy
ripples extend from its raised fingertips toward the mechanism.
Dialogue:
ALIEN: This machine is humming wrong.

PANEL 3
Visual:
Ace kneels excitedly beside the alien while Jack holds one token.
Dialogue:
ACE: Can you read its probability field?
JACK: He said it's humming.

PANEL 4
Visual:
The alien inserts the single token and pulls the machine's lever with both
small hands. Ace and Jack watch.
Dialogue:
JACK: One try.
ACE: For science.

PANEL 5
Visual:
The three reels stop on matching flying-saucer symbols as Ace, Jack, and the
alien lean toward the machine.
Sound effect:
CHUNK... CHUNK... CHUNK.

PANEL 6
Visual:
A bright JACKPOT sign illuminates while an impossible pile of coins pours
from the machine. Ace raises both arms. Jack grabs a bushel basket. The alien
calmly watches.
Dialogue:
ACE: He did it!
JACK: Get a bucket.

PANEL 7
Visual:
All three kneel among ankle-deep coins. Ace questions the alien. The alien
sips a soda while Jack moves coins with a snow shovel.
Dialogue:
ACE: Telepathy? Precognition?
ALIEN: I asked it nicely.

PANEL 8
Visual:
Outside beside Lake Koshkonong, Ace pulls and Jack pushes an overloaded
utility trailer away from the glowing clubhouse. Coins, baskets, and a snow
shovel fill the trailer. The alien sits calmly atop the pile with its soda.
The trailer tire is visibly compressed, and loose coins mark their route.
Dialogue:
ACE: We won big!
JACK: We need bigger tires.
