NITETIME MUD // TROUBLESHOOTING =============================== "I DO NOT KNOW WHERE I AM." Type `look`, `map` and `status`. Look shows the current room and exits; map shows places this character has discovered; status names the current location. "A COMMAND SAYS IT CANNOT FIND THE THING." Type `look` and check the object's displayed name. Contextual commands require the correct nearby room object. Portable equipment may need to be in your inventory. "I CANNOT PICK UP THE BOARD, RECEIVER OR OTHER SCENERY." Important fixed scenery is intentionally protected. Only portable, accessible objects can be taken with `get <object>`. "TAKE BEARING DOES NOT WORK." Use `inventory` and `status`. You must carry a prepared Field Radio Case and stand at a valid survey location. Use `tasks` for the current objective and `hint` if you need a staged nudge. "COMPARE BEARINGS DOES NOT WORK." This command requires the Control Room Signal Scope and all required field readings. Check `quests bearing` and `tasks` without guessing at hidden progress. "MY PRIVATE MESSAGE DID NOT SEND." The target must be connected and in game. Type `online` to see current character names, then use `private <name> <message>`. "GLOBAL CHAT IS NOT CONNECTED." Use `global <message>` or `chat <message>`. The wrapper normally reconnects a missing NITETIME channel subscription automatically. "THE MAP SHOWS QUESTION MARKS." That is normal. `?` represents a location this character has not yet visited. The map is intentionally limited to discovered areas. "I RECONNECTED AND WORRY THAT I LOST PROGRESS." Quest progress, discoveries, achievements, explored locations and important equipment state persist across reconnects. Use `quests`, `journal`, `map` and `status` to review them. "THE CAMERA SAYS IT IS CARRIED BUT NOT READY." Carrying is not holding. The Field Camera needs both hands. Use `equipment`, free your hands if necessary, then `hold camera`. "MY PORTRAIT FRAME DID NOT STICK." The subject must accept with `photoaccept <your-name>`. Consent belongs to the current room and expires after five minutes. After acceptance, frame the Character again before snapping. "MY PHOTO IS STILL QUEUED." Your immutable private snapshot is preserved, but image development is currently handled manually outside the MUD. Queued does not promise an immediate developed image or public Gopher/Files publication. For further orientation, type `menu`, `help` or `comms` in the game.
