pieces of exotica, surf, cocktail jazz, and saucer mystery. Telephone
Lounge and Mainframe mines the impersonal sounds of connection and delay
for character. Velvet UFO Lounge provides a dim room beneath a craft
that everyone has agreed not to mention during the first round.

Help Is on the Way moves from lounge to homemade spiritual broadcast.
It is sincere, hazy, and a little uncanny, using old television hum,
cassette texture, bells, woods, and water as reassurance. Night Feeder
and Looking at the Stars push farther toward field recording and trance.

Station IDs sit at the boundary between music and infrastructure. N I T
E T I M E DOT NET, Nitetime.net Is Back, All Engines Go for Summer, and
the repeated spoken URLs do more than advertise. They establish that the
place itself is the performer. The station is always introducing the
next song, and occasionally the next song is the station introducing
itself again.
