You won't believe what happened to me. So, there I was this morning, cozying up with my sweetheart Penny. Picture this: the sun hadn't made its full entrance yet, the world was still blanketed in this peaceful coolness that only the early birds get to taste. Usually, that's the time I'd be sawing logs, catching some z's in my favorite armchair, but not today, no siree. I decided to buck the trend, defy my internal clock, and stayed up. So there we were, Penny and I, just savoring the freshness of the morning air, the day full of promise, our little slice of paradise untouched by the sweltering heat that was to come. Lunchtime rolled around quicker than a drag race on the main strip, and let me tell ya, the grub was good. We had burgers - a nice hunk of meat between two slices of heaven, good ol' American tradition. But as good as it was, that's when things started getting strange. I was cooped up in my home office most of the day, working on websites. And I mean really working, like a grease monkey elbow-deep in a '57 Chevy engine. You know how it is, fellas - checking the codes, tweaking the designs, laying down the HTML and CSS, keeping the Java running smoother than a well-oiled engine. And would you believe, it was 90 degrees inside? Not a lick of breeze to cool me down. I swear, I was sweating more than a long-tailed cat in a room full of rocking chairs. It was relentless. I could've fried an egg on my forehead if I'd had a mind to. All day long, I was confused. Kept finding things in my hair. That's right, in my hair. Not your usual pomade or comb marks, but weird stuff, like tiny bits of gunk or lint. I'd step outside, mop my brow with my handkerchief, and there it'd be - more odd stuff sticking to me. And it wasn't just when I was out in the heat, either. I'd be sitting there at my computer, pecking away at the keyboard, and out of nowhere - pow - another piece of crud. I felt like I was playing a never-ending game of whack-a-mole with my scalp. But here's the kicker, pals. You ready for this? I figured out where it was all coming from. Took a look straight up, and you won't believe what I saw. That ceiling light was housing a whole swarm of lake flies, the little critters were dropping down like tiny paratroopers onto my head. You couldn't make this stuff up if you tried. My scalp had become the landing zone for these kamikaze bugs. So yeah, that's my tale of woe. A day of website wrangling and bug dodging. And here's to hoping tomorrow is a little less adventurous. Now who's up for another round?
