Watching Sleeping Beauty for the first time in about 40 years. Some thoughts and I am sure I am going to keep commenting on my own post too...
But first, this entire thing could have been avoided if the King and Queen would have invited Melificant to Aurora's christening (or whatever it was). Mel knew where they lived and they knew her, she has a huge house on top of a hill, why didn't they invite her when they invited everyone else to it? The movie calls out how EVERYONE was there but her. I can see why she is put off. There is zero evidence or backstory about why she wouldn't be invited. Trust me, I have a friend that dressed like that, they would be invited to every soiree I hosted.
Then we roll up to Auroras 16th birthday and the faux grannies (that have not aged themselves and no one notices) are bickering over who and how to bake a cake. So we are 16 years into pretending to be grans and none of them have ever made a cake?
